ABSENCES:

All children, at some stage, will become sick and require time at home to recover.  The staff accept this, however, we all become concerned when children are unnecessarily kept away from school or picked up early to leave the school.  As much time is spent preparing work for the children, the staff understandably feel let down when parents do not recognize this effort and keep their children away.
The school staff are unable to approve of children being taken on holiday during school time.  If circumstances are such that a trip is inevitable, then the staff will set work to be completed during the stay away from school.  A note or phone call is required to explain the reason why children are away.
If a child is leaving class during school time the "Sign Out Register", held at the school office, needs to be completed by the person taking the child out of school.  If the child is not being picked up by someone other than a parent/caregiver the school must be advised prior to the pick up.  Children will not be allowed to leave the school, with anyone unknown to the school, where permission has not been given by a parent/caregiver.

ASSEMBLIES

Parent Assemblies are held on a regular basis, generally  held  on  a  Friday  afternoon,  throughout the year. Notification of these are put in the school newsletter.  This is an opportunity for the children to share.

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

Alfriston School have high expectations of our pupils behaviour.  A copy of the Discipline Policy is available at the school office.

BELL TIMES

Although staff arrive at school before 8.00am, students are not allowed into the school grounds before 8.30am.  Parents are asked not to send their children prior to this time, as the staff use this time to prepare work for the day and cannot be expected to supervise children.  Any injuries sustained before this time are the responsibility of the parents.
Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds during the school day, unless prior arrangements have been made and the staff notified.
Pupils should be picked up or have left the school grounds as soon as possible after the 2.45pm bell.

MORNING TEA: 10:30am - 11:00am. All children are required to remain seated while eating.

LUNCH: 12:30pm - 1:20pm. Children gather in main courtyard for supervised lunch eating, and will be dismissed by the duty teacher when they are finished.

Please Note: We are a RUBBISH FREE SCHOOL. This means children are required to take all their rubbish home with them.  This allows parents to be aware of what their children are or are not eating at lunch time.
