CHANGES IN HOME CIRCUMSTANCES
It would be appreciated if the school could be notified of any significant changes in the home circumstances of any pupil. Such changes as marriage break-ups, family bereavements, house changes, illnesses, partner changes, accidents etc can have a marked affect on a child's behaviour, attitude or performance. Knowledge of such changes may enable us to assist your child through any trauma they may be facing.
CHARTER
The charter is a legal agreement between your Board of Trustees and the Minister of Education. The charter is a legally binding document. It is from the charter that all school policies are made, e.g. learning programmes, building maintenance programmes, procedures such as evaluations, reporting to parents, appointment of staff or monetary control. Copies of the current Alfriston School Charter are available through the office. Feel free to borrow these for reading.
CHILD SAFETY TO AND FROM SCHOOL
Teachers have been instructed to phone parents if they are keeping children after school. As part of the Health Programme we talk to the students about safety—such as refusing rides, lollies, money from strangers, or going anywhere with someone they do not know or anyone they don't like.
If arrangement for collection of your child/ren alter, we ask that parents ensure that your child is aware of this and that you also notify the child's teacher or the school office. Your child's safety is foremost in our minds.
CLUBS FOR CHILDREN
Part of every child's upbringing and extended education should be the involvement in pursuits and interests outside of school. Alfriston/Manurewa/Papakura areas host an abundance of clubs and organizations that cater for an extremely wide variety of interests or talents.
COLLECTING CHILDREN
Consider ALL children, not just your own, when driving a vehicle near the school, especially before school and at home time. Do not wave to younger children to come to your car, please come and collect them yourself, which allows them the safety of waiting inside the school grounds.
