   Discipline cont…

The Principal has the right to suspend students; either for a specified period (up to 3 days) or for an unspecified period.  This may occur if the student's gross misconduct or continual disobedience is a harmful or dangerous example to other students.
When suspending for a specified period the Principal will:
· Notify the Board of Trustees and give a written account of the offence/s.
· Notify the Ministry of Education.
· Notify a parent or guardian.
A note is required if a child needs a temporary exemption from the above rules.

DRESS REGULATIONS

The Board of Trustees and staff wish to reinforce the following dress rules:
· We do not permit the wearing of long trousers.
· The only acceptable jewellery is watches.
· Studs are the only items to be worn and only in the ears.
By enforcing high dress standards, general levels of discipline remain high.  Children need to know the rules and must learn to accept them.  Pupils are not permitted to wear long pants to and from school in the WINTER, but must remove them at school.  Our rooms are very warm and when pupils are taken outside it is for the purpose of physical exercise.   See SCHOOL UNIFORM for information concerning the uniform introduced in 1993.

 EARLY YEARS READING

Books coming home in the first year, or two, fall into two categories:
· Books which children have to read at school and which are to be read with, or to, parents each night.
· Library books which should be read by the parent with, or to, the child.  School books taken are best protected from food, wet togs, etc. by the use of a homework bag.  These bags are purchased with stationery when your child starts school or are available from the school office.  They are made of waterproof nylon.
