Early Years Reading cont...
When school readers are sent home would you please see that they are returned the following day. Most of these books have been bought with your money, so please help us to keep them clean and in good order.
ENROLMENTS
At present our school has a closed roll. It is only open to children who live in our school zone. Parents of out-of-zone children will be advised (by local paper) of any available places in the school for the following year.
If places are available for out-of-zone students a ballot will be held, within the time frame set by the Ministry of Education, and any children who are accepted will be advised by post.
Parents/caregivers of children accepted for enrolment at Alfriston School will need to complete an (in-zone) enrolment form for their child. ALL parents of new entrants will need to produce a birth certificate and an immunization certificate for their child.
EVENTS
During the school year children will be participating, from time to time, in a variety of different events. Swimming, cross country, athletics, netball, rugby, soccer, music festivals, drama, speech contests and a variety of other cultural activities.
You will be informed, by newsletters, when these events are to be held.
As a school we welcome all parents, grandparents and friends of the school to come along and join us on these occasions.
FUNDRAISING
The school receives an annual grant to pay for such things as power, phone, heating, some text books, building maintenance, cleaning supplies. You could call them house-keeping bills. Extras, such as additional books for the library, some sports gear, teaching resources and playground equipment need to be funded by the school community.
Our P.T.A. are a fantastic organization of parents who continually fundraise for our ongoing projects. If you want to meet new families this is a great way to do it.
