DO  help but do not do too much.  Help them do their own learning.
Encourage extended conversation about topics of interest.
Praise children's ideas, what they can do.
Accentuate the positive.
Criticism (and comparison) causes lack of confidence.  Have high but reasonable expectations.

 INQUIRIES AND CONCERNS

If you have any reasonable questions, inquiries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.  Concerns directly relating to pupil progress initially should be discussed with the classroom teacher.  Following this, please arrange to speak to the Senior Teacher (as listed in staff profile).  If you wish to take the matter further please arrange through the school for an appointment to see the Principal.  Most simple inquiries can be answered through the school office, ph: 266 7845 or feel free to call in personally.  Our aim is to assist where and whenever possible.
Please remember that the 'best' learning takes place when there is positive input from three areas:
 School Parents/home The Student
We ALL have to be accountable for the learning that takes place.  If we all work together cooperatively and responsibly, the learning outcomes are going to be more pleasurable, successful and consistent for your child.

 INTERESTING FACTS

Learning takes place in many ways and sometimes watching something interesting provides a language idea.  Should anyone move a house, discover moa bones, launch a rocket etc. do share it with the school.

 INTERVIEWS

Interviews occur later in Term 1 and Term 3.  Each interview lasts for 10 minutes only.  Portfolios, which are sent home previously, form the basis of the interview and need to be brought along on the day,  Portfolios are sent home four times a year.  Outside of these times do not hesitate to arrange an interview with the teacher regarding your child's progress and welfare.
