“At Alfriston School, the safety and wellbeing of all our learners and whānau is our top priority.”
|
Early Arrival
-
Please note that learners should not arrive at school before 8:15 am.
This is an important safety and supervision matter, as staff are preparing for the school day, and no supervision is available before 8:15 am.
Additionally, with the cold winter mornings, learners who arrive early will need to remain outside until the 8:15 am bell rings.
We appreciate your support in helping us keep all learners safe and comfortable.
Early Pick-up
-
If you plan to collect your child early from school, please notify the office in advance.
Important: If pick-up takes place during a break time, there may be a delay, as it can be challenging to locate children when they are outside.
If you arrive early on school grounds, we kindly ask that you do not signal to your child. This helps them stay focused as they complete their day, including packing up and reflecting on their learning. These end-of-day routines are especially important for our younger learners as they adjust to school life.

|
Late Arrival
- If your child arrives late to school with a valid reason, please ensure they sign in at the office upon arrival.
- If your child is late without a valid reason, they are still required to report to the office, speak with a staff member, and collect a late pass. This pass confirms their attendance for the classroom teacher.
- Please do not enter through the back gate after 8:45 am, as gates will be locked promptly at 9:00 am.
- Additionally, kindly ensure you exit the school grounds by 8:45 AM unless prior arrangements have been made.
Late Pick-up
- School finishes at 2.45 pm each day, and we expect that all learners have been picked up from school by 3 pm.
- If you know you will be late, please call the office so we can make arrangements for your child and help ease any worries they may have.
Remember: We have an after-school care program on the school site

Traffic Safety
Kiss n Go
- We will not allow learners to leave the school site without a parent/caregiver
- When using the pickup lane, please drive your car to the far end of the lane. This helps prevent traffic buildup and reduces the chance of putting other drivers in unsafe positions.
- Park in the car park and collect your child.
- Please do not stop in the car park and call your child to enter your car – this is very unsafe.

|
Traffic Safety
Back Gate
- Learners can not leave the school grounds without being accompanied by a parent/caregiver
- Please park your car and collect your child from the gate.
- Do not call your child to come to your car across the car park
- Do not park on the yellow lines or at the bus stop at any time.
- Please be respectful to all staff and follow their instructions. We all share a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of every learner.
