Library News

We are happy to celebrate our school library getting a bit of a ‘polish’.  Thank you to Sarah Lockett and her team, the library is organised, decorated, and functioning really well.   As part of the organisation, the overdue book register will be updated.  If your child has an overdue book please return it to school as soon as possible, if your child has lost a book the school will communicate with you to make a plan to have it replaced using your KINDO account.

REPORTING TO PARENTS/CAREGIVERS

In the past, we have provided learners with a report at the very end of the year. This year however learners will receive their 2nd Progress and Achievement Report at the beginning of Term 4. The reason for this is so that we have the time to discuss your child’s next steps with you and then to spend time working on these before your child moves on to a new teacher and new year level.

The written reports will be sent home on Tuesday 24th of October and Three Way Conferences will be the following two days, Wednesday 25th, and Thursday 26th of October. We ask that all whānau attend these meetings and that the learner is present.

Alfriston School continues to evaluate and review systems and processes and makes changes in the best interests of our learners.

Parent-teacher interviews: Booking details will be available soon.

UNIFORM Reminders

Hats! Hats! Hats! Hats!

Are you ready for Term 4?

If you require a sun hat (with embroidery) for Term 4, please place your order by 21 September so we can send it off for embroidery.

We ask that caregivers support us by ensuring our uniform expectations are followed. A few reminders:

  • Learners are to wear plain black shoes to school.
  • The only jewellery items to be worn are a watch, stud earrings and if required an item of cultural significance (this should be discussed with Mrs Cook or Mrs Galvin).
  • Additional layers of clothing under our uniform for warmth should be grey in colour.
  • Hair below the collar is tied up using black, brown, white or navy hair ties.

Good Luck!

Jump Jam Team

All the best to the Alfriston Jump Jam Team who are competing at Pt Chevalier School this Sunday. A BIG thank you to Jen Groom for training and taking this group to the competition. We wish them well and look forward to hearing their results.

Sports Camp

Next week we have a group of learners attending Sports Camp. They will be competing in a large range of events over the week and we are sure they will be challenged and stretched with the program that the teachers have planned for them.  Thank you to Ms Priscilla Paul for all her hard work around making sure this event will be successful and enjoyed by all.

The Learners are very excited and received their beautiful hoodies today – Thanks Mr. Beehre for Printing them for us!
