Further information regarding the Casual Vacancy on the School Board
When a parent representative resigns or leaves the board for another reason, it creates a “casual vacancy” for their position.
The board must always have the number of parent representatives required by its constitution (for our board this is 5).
It’s a good idea to try and replace the skills your board lost to the vacancy, and this is our intention.
The term of office for the person elected or selected will be for the remainder of the vacating board member’s term of office.
The board notifies the community of our intention to fill the vacancy by selection, which occurred on Tuesday 19th of September 2023.
As per the letter/information provided, eligible voters can request (via email) a by-election.
If, within 28 days of your notice, 10% or more of eligible voters on your school roll ask for a by-election this will occur.
